Indy Blue Star Mothers helping provide service dogs for Indiana veterans with PTSD

Information courtesy of Indy Blue Star Mothers

Indy Blue Star Mothers is working to help provide service dogs for Indiana veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Veterans can apply for a service dog at no out of pocket cost. They have partnered with a local professional dog trainer to reduce the wait time and eliminate the need for veterans to travel out of state to find a charity that trains dogs.

They are offering a choice between two breeds – a hypoallergenic breed for vets and families with allergies, and German Shepherds. The German Shepherds are imported from Germany, where breeding avoids ailments typical to American bred German Shepherds, such as hip dysplasia.

To apply for the program, print and mail in the form here (pdf).
