Indiana Protection and Advocacy Services (IPAS) has changed its name to Indiana Disability Rights. The name may be different, but the mission is the same: to protect and advocate the rights of people with disabilities.
Indiana Disability Rights services include:
- Providing Information and Resources – Telling people with disabilities about their rights and offering guidance free of charge
- Advocating – Helping people with disabilities advocate for themselves and, if necessary, advocating for them
- Investigating Abuse and Neglect – Investigating abuse, neglect, and exploitation of people with disabilities
- Monitoring – Visiting any facility which serves people with disabilities and talking to individuals who receive services to make sure their rights are protected. This includes state operated facilities, nursing homes, group homes, etc.
