Indiana General Assembly Announces Interim Study Committees

The Indiana General Assembly has announced this year’s legislative interim study committees. These committees discuss bills, study issues, and recommend bills for consideration in the next legislative session.

The Education Committee will be meeting on August 11 at 1:00 pm to discuss Special Education issues, including:

  • The categories of special education for which funding is provided for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary students
  • The number of children in preschool who are identified as developmentally delayed, and the amount and sources of funding for the identified children
  • The number of children identified in preschool as developmentally delayed who are placed in a different special education category or categories in kindergarten and grade 1

The Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services Committee will be examining insurance issues, including definitions, denials, and complaints.
