Indiana ABLE Account Tax Credit – Sign on to support the bill before February 28

The Indiana ABLE Authority and the Treasurer of State’s Office are working to improve Indiana’s 529A ABLE accounts by the addition of a tax credit. They are requesting your support of Senate Bill 559 and House Bill 1350. This legislation would give Indiana ABLE accounts the same tax incentives currently offered by the CollegeChoice 529 programs.  ABLE accounts, also known as 529A accounts, allow individuals with disabilities to save for their future and pay for disability related expenses, without affecting their eligibility for certain means-tested benefits. If this bill passes, contributors to ABLE accounts would be eligible to receive a 20% Indiana state tax credit worth up to $1,000 annually.

If this issue is important to you, you may wish to show your support by reaching out to Catherine Seat at to discuss all the ways you can help. Act fast, as the bill needs to have a committee vote before the end of the month.

You can read the text of the bill here. For more information, download a copy of the Treasurer’s Office stakeholder letter here (PDF). You can also watch our interview with Amy Corbin, the Executive Director of the Indiana ABLE Authority, at YouTube here.

Thanks for your help, advocates!
